When PM suddenly decides that the only way to stop the child abuse occurring in remote Indigenous communities in the top end is to send in the police and military.
PM says, the time for talking is done. It's time to act.
Time to act?
PM you've had 10 years in office to act on what has long been known. You just never cared. You've absently commissioned reports and sought recommendations, then allocated not one single extra cent to action the findings. How cleverly you spin this around, and say, 'Look everyone, they didn't act! Now I have no choice but to reclaim their lands.'
And then you wonder why mothers are taking their children and running to the sand dunes, preferring to face the subzero desert nights than risk having their children taken away again. You wonder why communities are sitting quietly in the dust and tin cans, terrified.
Time indeed. Our PM, the master of the pre-election smokescreen.
